All writers of television shows and movies should take basic feminism classes by law.

Seriously though, can we please start demanding things like this from our media suppliers? Obviously not feminism classes by law, but the threat of calling them out publicly if they continue to buy into and perpetuate the misogyny of the media industry? We are the consumers. We are the most important part of the whole system. If we have a problem with the product, we damn well better send it back and demand a better one. We need to be a society of consumers that refuses to accept inequality because that’s just how it is. We need to be the consumers that decide that sex doesn’t sell, that women’s bodies don’t sell because we aren’t buying. We have more access to writers, producers, networks today than ever before. And if we use that access to do things like this - to demand apologies and change or even just spark the thought that hey, we will call you out when we see something like this - that’s when we will see the change in this industry.
